Our Mission

In 1952 Reverend & Mrs. Herbert Householder donated a wooded hillside near Junction City to the United Brethren In Christ Church for use as a campground. For over 50 years this campground has been used as a free summer camp for children of all ages. Over the years it has been a starting point for children to learn about, receive, rely on, and serve Christ throughout their lives. The camp has been known as a great place for individuals to find life long Christian friends. Even some marriages have come from these friendships. Many have returned as adults with their children and grandchildren to work and volunteer their time as cooks, teachers, nurses, shepherds, pianists, song leaders, camp directors & ministers. Reverend Householder's vision was to keep this facility free of charge for any child that wanted to spend a week at a Christian summer camp. It is our mission to keep that vision alive. We have only been able to do this through the continued donations of time and financial support from concerned and caring individuals. We appreciate all the support you have given us and will greatly appreciate any support you can give us in the future. Thank you very much and may God bless you.

A Brief History of Scioto Youth Camp

Camp Funding

The SYC budget runs about $60,000 a year. Funding for the camp now comes completely and directly from individuals, Churches and fund raisers. Our UB Conference does not send the camp any funding. The Conference has left this decision up to the individual Churches. Any money for the camp will need to be sent directly to the camp.

Scioto Youth Camp would like to thank everyone for your support in the past. With this change in funding policy we hope you will remember the camp in your personal and in your Church financial planning. As mentioned above we want to keep SYC a free camp for any child that wants to attend. Thank you and may God bless.

Work Days

Every Saturday in May and every Saturday in June until camp starts is a work day at the camp. There are always many projects that need done each year. If anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated. For more information about work projects or if you can work sometime other than a Saturday contact Carl Morgan listed below.

July 22nd. 2008 Storm Damage Pictures

Early Tuesday morning around 4:00 a.m. on 7/22/08 thunder storms with 120 MPH straight line winds hit Junction City and Scioto Youth Camp. A Church group was using the camp at the time. No campers or workers were injured and no buildings were destroyed. Four cars had heavy damage. A very large number of the trees were destroyed and the electrical system received very heavy damage.
